Archival Giclee Print on 300gsm, unbleached cotton rag. Early Tom French.
This incredible piece showcases what Tom French has earned a reputation for – monochrome works featuring an illusory quality. Recent circumstances have given such works an extra poignancy. The skull has been a recurrent symbol of mortality in art culture. Tom French saw it as representing the fragility of life. In a bitter twist of fate, the 36-year-old artist died of cancer on Christmas day 2020.
