British Photographer, Terry O’Neill was born in London on 30 July 1938. Although famous for his candid portraits of celebrities he actually began his career as a commercial photographer, working at The Daily Sketch.
His portraits of public figures, including Rolling Stones, Davie Bowie, the Beatles and Frank Sinatra were recognised for their natural and unposed feel.
He soon rose to fame in the 1960s and his relationship with Faye Dunaway resulted in some of the most iconic photographs of the American actress. The most memorable being the morning after her Best Actress Academy Award win in 1977. He was awarded the Royal Photographic Society’s Centenary Medal in 2011.
